BELIZE CITY, Wed. Apr. 21, 2021– After more than a year, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is expected to resume calls to Belize, starting this summer, according to the Caribbean Journal.
On August 7, the Norwegian Joy ship will leave from Montego Bay, Jamaica, and make a stop at the company’s Harvest Caye private island location in Belize.
While the Center for Disease Control (CDC) still has a no-sail order for cruises in the United States in effect, in November the center is expected to do a conditional lifting of the no-sail order. NCL and other cruise lines are adding homeports within Caribbean destinations to reinitiate cruises.
At the start of the month, the CEO of the Ministry of Tourism. Nicole Solano remarked, “[November 2021] is the current date that we have from CDC; however, the cruise lines are now looking at operating out of home ports in the Caribbean. So that will give us some opportunity for a potential restart before then.”
