O.W. taxi man found stabbed to death

GeneralO.W. taxi man found stabbed to death
The last time Antonio Cowo, 60, a taxi operator of Orange Walk Town, was seen alive by his family was on Friday, February 10, at around 12:00 noon when he came home for lunch.

His body was later found inside his taxi, a green wagon, at around 4:30 p.m., in an area in Corozal with multiple stab wounds in the chest and abdomen.

According to police, the taxi was parked in some bushes off the San Andres Road in the Corozal District. Police found Cowo lying in the vehicle’s back seat.

Amandala understands that a tip from a resident in the area to police, led them to the body.

According to Cowo’s common-law wife, Benita Rosado, Cowo had been in the business for the past 20 years. She told us that coping with the terrible news has been very difficult. Mostly, she said she doesn’t know who would have wanted Cowo dead. She mentioned that he had no known enemies.

She also added that on several occasions, Cowo had made it clear that he would have never picked up someone unfamiliar to him. She said that most of Cowo’s customers called him for taxi services, but that while he was at home for lunch, no one had called him.

Both Cowo’s wallet and phone were missing, according to Rosado, but police are yet to confirm this. According to Rosado, she wouldn’t know how much money Cowo had in his wallet because he was very private with his earnings.

Cowo had no children, but we were not able to determine whether he has other family. Police have made no arrests in this latest murder at press time.
