BELIZE CITY, Tues. Sept. 15, 2020– Oliver Peters, 45, a laborer of Belize City who was the father of a daughter, 21, was riding his bicycle out of the Coral Grove Puma Gas Station at Mile 3 on the Philip Goldson Highway at about 2:30 yesterday afternoon when he was knocked down by a passenger bus that was heading towards Belama, Belize City.
As a result, Peters suffered massive head and body injuries and died almost immediately on the road.
According to reports we’ve received, Peters had gone to buy disposable diapers for his baby niece and made a right turn onto the highway, as he began to head home, when he was knocked down.
Police have issued a Notice of Intended Prosecution to the driver of the Belama shuttle bus, Michael Lewis, 38.
Peters’ mother told the media that on Sunday, her son told her that he was going to die, and several times said that he was not feeling well. She said she told him not to say such things, but as fate would have it, he died one day after telling his mother that he was going to die.
His sister said that he often provided assistance to her and that he is going to be missed.
