JALACTE VILLAGE, Toledo District, Mon. Oct. 18, 2021– Sometime yesterday, around 3:00 p.m., Toledo police responded to a report of an incident at the Cool Spot, located near the Adjacency Zone, where, according to initial reports, there was a dispute between a bus driver, Kent Chun, and a bus operator who is said to be his common-law wife.

Today police reported that the argument spiraled out of control and prompted an onlooker, Justo Martinez, to attempt to mediate the altercation. According to police, it was at this point, when Martinez attempted to intervene, that the female bus operator reportedly broke a beer bottle and stabbed Martinez in the neck.

Unconfirmed reports, however, suggest that the victim and Chun were found damaging the tank of one of the woman’s buses. This is what triggered her attack on Martinez, according to these reports.

It has been reported that Martinez’s family rushed him to a clinic on the Guatemala side of the border, where he was treated for his injuries. Later, investigators learnt that Martinez had succumbed to his injuries.

The female bus operator who allegedly caused Martinez’s death, later fled the scene in a bus. Apparently, the bus ran out of fuel near San Antonio Village, and Toledo police intercepted this bus and found the suspect in clothes stained with blood. Toledo police swiftly detained the female suspect and transported her to the Punta Gorda Police Station. The department refused to divulge the name of the suspect until an investigation has been carried out and charges have been levied.
