SportsPlayoff spots will be decided this Sunday in BDFA U-15

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 11, 2016–Another set of back matches was played yesterday in the BDFA Interim Committee U-15 football tournament at the MCC Grounds.

In game 1, Smart Brown Bombers won, 5-3, over Face of Belize. Tyreek Mushcamp struck twice, and Eshaq King, Maynor Hernandez and Michael Deshield scored a goal apiece for the Bombers, while Ajani Vaughn got 2 goals and Sergio Andrade scored the other for Face of Belize.

In game 2, Hattieville Riverside Boys and Berger United played to a nil-nil draw.

Game 3 saw Ladyville Jaguars emerging 2-1 winners over Ladyville Rising Stars. Allen Anderson and D’Jon Canelo hit the target for the Jaguars, while Camryn Lozano scored for Rising Stars.

In the scheduled game 4, Carlston Strikers won by default over Collet Strikers.

The final set of back matches to complete the regular season will be played this Sunday, and that will determine the top 4 teams which will go on to the knockout semifinals the following week.

Sunday, January 17
10:00 a.m. – Hattieville Riverside Boys vs Carlston Strikers
11:10 a.m. – Ladyville Rising Stars vs City Boys
12:15 p.m. – Smart Brown Bombers vs Berger United
1:20 p.m. – Face of Belize vs Ladyville Jaguars
(Collet Strikers will be resting.)

It will be a very intriguing finish to the regular season because 2 teams are presently sure of a playoff spot – City Boys and Smart Brown Bombers (See standings below); and 4 teams are battling for the other 2 playoff spots – Hattieville Riverside Boys, Berger United, Face of Belize and Ladyville Jaguars. Hattieville is in the “driver’s seat” with an “easy” game against Carlston Strikers; and Berger’s chances are very slim, going up against the powerful Brown Bombers. The best chance lies between Face of Belize and Ladyville Jaguars, who will square off on Sunday, and the winner could very well be the fourth team in the playoff.

Our attempt at the standings below was adjusted to reflect 3 pts lost by Face of Belize to Berger United, due to a protested game where Face of Belize reportedly used an overage player.
