Police operations nab 1,583 grams of weed, a gun and ammunition

CrimePolice operations nab 1,583 grams of weed, a gun and ammunition

Police on anti-drug operations in Punta Gorda, San Pedro, and Belize City, collectively found and confiscated about 1,583 grams of marijuana and 2 grams of cocaine, along with a .22 Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with eight .22 live rounds. There was no one present at the locations where the marijuana and the loaded gun were found, so the items were deposited as “found property.”

Referring to an anti-drug operation police carried out in San Pedro, a police report indicated that police officers conducted searches on Friday and Sunday on the island, and during their searches in the San Pedrito area, they found a total of 638 grams of weed, and two grams of cocaine. The weed was confiscated and labeled as found property and will be handed over for destruction.

The cocaine, the police report said, was found in the home of a man on Swan Street in San Pedrito, who was arrested and charged with drug trafficking. The drug was labeled as an “exhibit.”

In another anti-drug operation, which was conducted in Belize City, police conducting a search on Rivero Street around 8:15 a.m. Friday morning went to an empty lot where they found a black and silver .22 Smith and Wesson pistol in a bucket along with a magazine containing eight .22 live rounds. The pistol and rounds were sealed and labeled as found property.

The next day, at or about 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, police on a similar operation in Punta Gorda went to the Dump area, where they searched for guns, drugs or ammunition. The search yielded a transparent plastic bag containing marijuana. The drugs were taken to the Punta Gorda Police Station, were labeled “found property” and were set aside for destruction. The drugs, when weighed, amounted to 845 grams.

That same day, at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon, police in Belize City again went to Rivero Street, where they conducted further searches, and they found a black bag containing 100 grams of weed. The weed was labeled as “found property” and confiscated for destruction.
