S.C. Ecumenical females and Georgetown Tech represent in Volleyball

SportsS.C. Ecumenical females and Georgetown Tech represent in Volleyball

The Southern Secondary School Sports Association (SSSSA) has held its regional competition to select their regional champions to represent the Southern Region at the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) tournament on November 8-9 in Belize City. Participating high schools were Stann Creek Ecumenical College (ECU), Julian Cho Technical High School (JCT), Georgetown Technical High School (GTC), Independence High School (HIS), and Toledo Community College (TCC).

The following are the results of female (F) and male (M) competition games held at Stann Creek Ecumenical College and hosted by Agriculture and Natural Resource Institute, ANRI. Utilizing a double-elimination format, (F) ECU defeated JCT, 25-17, 25-18; (M) ECU def. GTC, 17-25, 25-8, 15 – 8; (F) ECU def. HIS, 25-18, 25-13; (M) TCC def. ECU, 25-8, 25-8; (F) JCT def. HIS, 25-11, 25-22 (HIS eliminated); and (M) GTC def. ECU, 23-25, 25-21, 16-14 (ECU eliminated). Playing in the championship round then, (F) ECU defeated JCT in straight sets, 25-18, 25-18 (championship game); while (M) GTC needed 3 sets to defeat TCC, 25-23, 18-25, 18-16 (championship game).

The Southern Regional Champions are therefore Stann Creek Ecumenical College females and Georgetown Technical High School males.
