Sagitun win again – Yabra move into second with win over Griga

SportsSagitun win again - Yabra move into second with win over Griga

Nine minutes later, Lake rookie, Deon McCauley, replied with a left foot bullet to tie the game at 1 apiece.

I bet the young ballers were happy to have put up such a great performance against the defending sub-champions, Juventus. Having lost to Sagitun in Independence last week, Krem Lake get their first point of the season with the draw.

In the game between San Pedro Sea Hawks and Sagitun played at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Ambergris Caye on Sunday afternoon, it was Sagitun over the Hawks 2-0 at the end of regulation.

In the 66thminute, Sagitun?s Elroy Kuylen scored the first goal to give his team the advantage over the Hawks.

Twelve minutes later, San Pedro?s Vallan Symns, trying to stop a ball before it reached the goal, somehow managed to slide it inside his own net for an auto-goal. Sagitun was awarded that goal, which put them up, 2-0. That?s how it ended. Sagitun, with two victories and 6 points, lead the tournament.

Meanwhile, at the Calcutta Field in Corozal, Cayo Avengers were rumbling with the homestanding Calcutta Bulls.

Twenty eight minutes into the ball game, Cayo Avengers? Everal Gabourel scored the first goal, but Froylan Guy responded for the Bulls 9 minutes later.

In the second half, in the 77thminute of the ball game, Cayo Avengers? Oliver Wiltshire scored what proved to be the winning goal, when he put his team up, 2-1, thirteen minutes before the long whistle.

In Sunday?s game at MCC Grounds, Kulture Yabra defeated Print Belize Griga, 4-2, in a hotly contested match.

Both teams played a very physical game. In the 14thminute of the ball game Griga?s Ryan Simpson opened the scoring by splitting two defenders to score the game?s first goal. But 19 minutes later, Yabra scored back-to-back goals with one from Albert ?Tut? Thurton in the 33rdminute from the penalty spot, and then Wilhelm White in the 35thminute. In the 74thminute, Yabra midfielder, Edmund ?Dubu? Thomas, issued a pass to Daniel Thomas, who scored the City team?s 3rdgoal of the ball game. Nine minutes later Daniel Thomas scored again to give Yabra a 4-1 lead. Five minutes before regulation time, Griga?s Anthony Flores scored. The game ended 4?2 in favor of the City Lions – Kulture Yabra.
