DANGRIGA, Thurs. Apr. 23, 2015–Cycling: The Southern Regional Cycling Association continues its monthly race every last Sunday in the month. This Sunday, April 26, the race will start (and finish) from in front of the Wadani Shed on St. Vincent Street at 10:00 a.m. sharp, head all the way into Hopkins Village, make a U-turn in front of King Cassava, and back. It’s an Open race for amateur riders from across the country of Belize who would like to take part. First place gets $300.00; second, $200.00; and third, $100.00. Station prizes will be provided along the way. Registration per rider is only $10.00. Confirmed teams taking part in this race are: Team Chavarria from Georgeville, Team Police from Belmopan, Team Shake And Bake from Dangriga, and Team Smart.

Dangriga Boys & Girls U-13: Here are the results from Week 10 of the Dangriga Boys & Girls U-13 Football Tournament that is played at Ecumenical Football Field every Sunday afternoon. In game 1, Wagierale won over Benguche, 1-nil, with a goal from Stephen Noralez. In game 2, Umadagu and Pomona ended up in a nil-nil tie. And in game 3, Survivors defeated Benguche, 1 goal to nil.

This Sunday is the final Sunday for regular season, with the first game beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Sunday, April 26
Game 1 – Silk Grass vs Benguche
Game 2 – Umadagu vs Hopkins Esanigu
Game 3 – Survivors vs Hope Creek
Game 4 – Montise vs Wagiya

Playoffs get started next week Sunday with the top 4 teams who got the most points.

Leading at this moment is Wagiya with 16 pts; Umadagu and Wagierale have 15 pts each; and Pomona is next with 14 pts.

NEBL: Dangriga fans are filled with joy after that big victory last week Friday at home against one of the powerhouses from the NEBL, Belmopan Red Taigaz. Basketball fans from around the Stann Creek District came out in numbers last week Friday to support the Dangriga Warriors to victory.

Dangriga Warriors are back on the road for the last time this Friday night inside Cayo to take on the red hot Cayo Western Ballaz. Dangriga Warriors are confident that they can take the victory against Cayo Western Ballaz. With Byron “Shackles” Flowers on the coaching staff, working along with the entire staff for Griga Warriors, things can change around for the Warriors. Shackles said that the 4th spot for the playoff will be for the Dangriga Warriors.

After the Cayo road game this weekend, the remaining 2 games will be at home in Dangriga against Belize Hurricanes and San Pedro Tiger Sharks. The Dangriga Warriors basketball team plays much harder at home.

Primary school football: The Stann Creek District Sports Council Primary School Zone Football Tournament will commence on Wednesday, April 29, which will be the Valley Zone. The venue for the Valley Zone competition will be at Hope Creek Methodist. Valley schools are Holy Angels, St. Matthews Anglican, Light of the Valley Baptist, Hope Creek Methodist, and St. Augustine.

On May 6, it will be Independence Zone, and the venue will be Placencia. Schools are St. John Memorial, St. Paul RC, Red Bank Christian, St. Alphonsus RC, Independence Government, Trio Government, and San Isidro.

May 12, it will be Hopkins Zone, with the venue being United Community. Schools are Holy Family, Silk Grass Methodist, St. Jude RC, Nuestra Senora Guadalupe RC, Sittee River Methodist, United Community Government, Richard Quinn RC, and Maya Mopan Gov’t.

And May 14, it will be Dangriga Zone. The venue will be Carl Ramos Stadium; and the schools are Epworth Methodist, Holy Ghost RC, Christ the King Anglican, and Solid Rock Christian Academy.

The District Finals will be on May 20 at the Carl Ramos Stadium, starting at 9:00 a.m.

No child may participate who turns 15 years before June 2015.

SCFA 1st Division Wamule Cup 2015: The Stann Creek Football Association (SCFA) First Division Wamule Cup 2015 continued with Week 8 games on Friday, April 17, and Sunday, April 19, at the Carl Ramos Stadium.

In the opener on Friday, Hope Creek United FC won, 2-1, over Valley Stars FC. Tito Flores (40’) and Jevon Parham (78’) shook the net for Hope Creek, while Benedicto Yats (60’) scored for Valley Stars. And in the nightcap, Hopkins FC dropped Green Gold FC, 4-1, with goals from Andre Diego (25’), Oscar Williams (49’ & 86’) and Norman Nunez (89’); while Hugo Franco (41’) tallied for Green Gold.

Game 1 on Sunday saw Hope Creek Pumas FC getting the 3-1 victory over Maya King FC, with goals from Joseph Brooks (65’ & 78’) and Octavio Ramirez (82’); while Maya King got a late strike from Johen Colomer (89’). And in game 2, it was New Site FC shutting out Benguche FC, 3-0, with goals from Cory Wade (12’) and Phillip Marin (18’ & 55’).
