GeneralTeacher found nude, stabbed to death!

San Ignacio police are investigating the violent, mysterious death of a high school teacher who was found dead, with stab wounds in his neck, in his living room in the West and Second Street area of San Ignacio.

On Sunday afternoon, May 13, police found Marco David Thompson, 45, a teacher of the Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio, bloodied and lying on his back, nude, in pools of his blood, with three large stab wounds to the right side of his neck.

He was taken to the San Ignacio Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His body was later taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where it was deposited at the morgue, awaiting an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

Police have since launched an investigation into this murder, but so far the motive for the crime is unknown and no suspects have yet been detained.

Ron Vasquez, Thompson’s roommate, told San Ignacio police that on his arrival at the house around 1:10 p.m. that Sunday, he found his friend naked and dead in the living room. He last saw him alive around 1:00 p.m. the day before, Saturday, prior to going to his girlfriend’s house. He said that he spoke to him by phone around 1:30 that Sunday morning, and all was well.

Thompson was a teacher/counselor at Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio, and had taught for 15 years at Sacred Heart High School and for two and a half years at the Sacred Heart College Sixth Form.

Prior to teaching at the Sacred Heart College, Thompson had been principal at Belize Bible and Trade School in Esperanza for one year and a half. Prior to that, he had been a supervisor and teacher at the Rose Glen Christian School in Spanish Lookout for two years.

At the time of his death, he was the director of Education and Rehabilitation at Belize Central Prison at the Kolbe Foundation, in Hattieville.
