TIDE High School Marathon

Three high schools in southern Belize participated in the TIDE Freshwater Cup (FWC) Marathon on Saturday, December 7, at the Toledo Union Field. They all had to do an environmental project in order to participate. Participating high schools were George Town, Julian Cho & Toledo Community College (TCC). Independence High School did not show; neither did TCC Girls.

Results: After a long day of battle, Julian Cho High School boys and girls, as well as George Town boys and girls went on to the finals. All games ended in a draw and therefore went to penalties, where George Town boys won, 5–4, over Julian Cho boys; and George Town girls also won, 3-1, over Julian Cho girls.

NOTE: An award ceremony followed at 4:30 p.m. at the Toledo Union Field, where Mr. Ruperto Vicente, President of FFB, was invited to give his remarks during the ceremonies, and also was asked to present the trophies and medals to both the female and male high school winners.
TIDE FWC Mundialito Exchange

In a TIDE FWC Mundialito exchange, the first friendly game out of two was played today, Sunday, December 8, between Bella Vista FWC primary school boys and Independence Mundialito selection. The Independence Mundialito selection prevailed, 3-1, over Bella Vista boys, with 2 goals from Gabriel Ramos, Jr. (15’ & 42’) and the other from Jardell Muschamp (54’). The goal for Bella Vista boys was by Alwin Zelaya (36’).

The Bella Vista School FWC girls team was also present to play a selection of girls from Independence; however, the Independence girls selection did not show up.

A second game is scheduled for both teams, boys and girls, again on Saturday, December 14, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium. The winning teams will receive school supplies.
