BELIZE CITY, Thurs. June 28, 2018– Just before 8:00 p.m. tonight, gunfire claimed the life of Warren Rudon, a 17-year-old minor who, according to street sources, was shot in the face on Lovely Lane and died.
When we arrived on the scene around 8:30 tonight, police confirmed that Rudon had already been taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH). When we checked with hospital workers at the KHMH Emergency Room, we were directed to the morgue, where, they told us, the body had already been taken.
Family members of the murdered minor began to arrive at the KHMH morgue, where their loud wailing echoed through the stillness of the area. They were unable to talk to us in the midst of their grief.
They were crying and hugging each other in disbelief and consolation, and none of those among the grievers who live in the St. Martin de Porres area, were able to indicate the circumstances that led to the murder of their loved one, who was gunned down on the north side of the city.
Police, for their part, had no information to give us at that time.
