Traffic warden charged with sexually assaulting 3 female high school students on office practice

CrimeTraffic warden charged with sexually assaulting 3 female high school students on office practice

Three female high school students who went on job training at Transport Department on Freetown Road have accused traffic warden Dale Buckley, 33, of indecently assaulting them.

A resident of Hattieville, reported to the police that on Wednesday, May 9, while she was in the office at Transport Department filing some documents, she was approached by Buckley. She said Buckley held her hand, pulled her towards him and hugged and squeezed her so hard that she became annoyed and felt uncomfortable.

A second student, 18, reported to the police that on Monday, May 7, at about 12:30 p.m. while she was in an office at Transport Department on job training, she was approached by Buckley.  According to her, Buckley hugged her and squeezed her tightly to him, then kissed her on her lips, causing her to become quite upset.

A third student, 20, also reported that Buckley indecently assaulted her on Monday, May 7, at about 1:00 p.m.  She said that while she was in an office at Transport Department on job training, Buckley hugged her and squeezed her tightly to him in a manner than was not appropriate.

The police investigated the reports and as a result detained Buckley on Tuesday, May 15, and charged him with 3 counts of aggravated assault.

Buckley pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared today before Magistrate Ed Usher.  The prosecution, represented by Sergeant Pablo Pinkney, objected to bail.  But Magistrate Usher decided to grant Buckley bail because Buckley said he has a wife and two children and is the sole breadwinner for his family.

Buckley was offered bail of $4,000 and was told to return to court on June 21.

On February 20, 1999, Buckley was charged with rape and unlawful carnal knowledge. But the charge of rape was dismissed on March 7, 2000, and the charge of unlawful carnal knowledge was dismissed on March 24, 2000.
