Turneffe Atoll, Belize, Tues. Aug. 17, 2021– The Turneffe Atoll, located about 20 miles off the coast of Belize City, topped FishingBooker’s ultimate bucket list of fishing spots. FishingBooker has categorized these locations as the most rewarding fishing destinations to visit, following a year in lockdown.

At the very top of that list is the Turneffe Atoll, which now has the distinction of being FishingBooker’s number one fishing destination worldwide. The release refers to the Turneffe Atoll as “an angling paradise like no other.”

The prime marine species located in the Turneffe Atoll area are Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon — each of which is protected by law and available to fishers for catch and release only. The abundance of Bonefish, among other species, in the Turneffe Atoll makes it a perfect location for sport anglers to hone their skills and even for beginners to catch their first fish. In addition, it is known to be one of the few fishing spots worldwide where fisherfolk can fish all year long.

Also on FishingBooker’s list of top fishing spots are the Mississippi River Delta located in Louisiana, USA; the Andaman Islands in India; the Bissagos Islands in Guinea-Bissau; USA-
