Dear Editor
Kindly allow me a space it the newspaper to vent my frustration about some of the things that are happening here in Belize.
It has been twenty-five days since the new tint law has been in effect, and I still see a lot of vehicles with heavy tint. Correct me if I am wrong, but I understand that everyone should take off their tint. The Prime Minister said “no exceptions!” but the police still have heavily tinted vehicles.
The Prime Minister said that no one is above the law, but it is obvious that there are some exceptions. Take for instance the Ford Expedition clearly marked POLICE BEWARE K9, which is still heavily tinted, and also the five Toyota Hiluxes being used by the ADU, also still heavily tinted. The security that WE once had, with our tint, is now long gone.
The other thing that I want to vent about is the policeman who is said to have abused his own child. If it was a regular Joe, the police’s FVU (Family Violence Unit) would have already gone and arrested the man, and that person would be in jail by now.
Then there is the new motor cycle patrol as if the BDF and police ATV patrols were not enough .I watch these so-called lawmen harass citizens, draw their firearms on unarmed people and even children.
Is this the Belize that we are now being forced to live in? I watch police vehicles moving construction material, house hold materials, towing private vehicles and being used as taxis, but enough about that.
In closing, I’ll say that there seems to be two set of laws in our country
Signed
TOMMY
