BELMOPAN, Tues. July 20, 2021– In a recent press release, the president of the University of Belize, Professor Clement Sankat, announced the appointment of three new deans to the faculties of Management and Social Sciences (FMSS), Education and Arts (FEA), and Science and Technology (FST).

The release, dated July 20, 2021, stated that Dr. Vincent Palacio was appointed as the dean of the FMSS department; Dr. Nadine Tun is the new dean of the FEA department, and Dr. Sherlene Enriquez Savery will be serving as the dean of the FST department. Notably, all three of the newly appointed deans were previously serving as professors within their respective departments at the University of Belize.

Dr. Vincent Palacio holds a doctoral degree from Indiana State University and previously held the position of dean from the year 2010 to 2015. Dr. Nadine Tun obtained her doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida and possesses over 15 years of experience in teaching at both secondary and tertiary-level institutions. Dr. Enriquez-Savory holds a doctoral degree in Philosophy of Mathematics and Statistics from the University of South Florida and authored the thesis, “Statistical Analysis of a Risk Factor in Finance and Environmental Models for Belize.”

These appointments were confirmed by the University of Belize Board of Trustees on July 1, 2021 following recommendations from the Acting Human Resources Director, Ms. Hertha Gentle. This faculty search was spearheaded by the UB president, Professor Sankat, and UB vice president, Dr. Mariot R. Simon. The newly appointed deans will serve for a period of five years, starting August 1, 2021. They each possess extensive experience and have served as interim deans in the academic year 2019-2021.
