We Walk As One Foundation

Belize City, Belize

Dear Editor,

I am a 16-year-old youth of Nazarene High School. I am Christian, I am passionate for God, and I love my country, but not only the country, my people as well.

Last year my dad, Daniel Guardado, was killed due to gun violence on our streets (Partridge Street). And so, this year, as a part of my goals for the year, I have established my very own foundation entitled “We Walk As One Foundation.”

Along with me I have a large number of foundation members whose group name is “World Changers,” and the purpose of the foundation is to change Belize, help the poor and impact the lives of others and show that even our youths are capable of making a change, and being a change in Belize.

This year of 2019, I planned a community outreach, which was successful with the help of many business organizations, on March 23, 2019, whereby we helped a total of fifty families around the city who were in need.

We saw the tears of many single mothers, and they really appreciated the pantry bags with food items. On August 31, 2019, we will be having the distribution of the back-to-school backpacks filled with supplies. We need to publicize what we are doing, the dates we are planning our events, as well as announcing a date for a back-to-school drive, where we will be collecting donations from the public as I get prepared for the end-of-month event.

We are hoping to receive assistance from the general public as well. We are asking for, or gathering, schoolbags, books, and other primary school stationery which will be purchased; we received an invoice from A&R which sums up everything to $2,514.00 for all the schoolbags and supplies for them as well.

The Belizean Barber Shop is partnering with us to give the male students a free haircut so that they can return to school looking sharp.

So far, the Belize Electricity Board has already made a donation. The drive will be helping a total of one hundred students in the Southside area, where I want to provide the most assistance, because they are affected by gun violence and infested by gang rivalries.

Any assistance rendered to me will greatly be appreciated. It will be a date filled with fun while we bring the gospel to these children. We want a change in Belize and it starts by giving our children an education and bringing to them the Word of God.

The theme that will be used for the Back-to-School Fun Day, which is the day of distribution, is as follows:

“A Nation Filled With Positivity, Is A Generation Filled With Hope And Success; Give Our Children An Education To Make Belize’s Future Betta Dan All Di Rest.”

All your help will greatly be appreciated, not only by me, but by all foundation members and the students benefitting from the drive. You can contact me at 620-1498 or the head of the board directors @ 664-2224, or email me at [email protected] or [email protected].

Be a part of the change in Belize; the change begins with you.

Yours Truly,
Brian Guardado, Founder of Foundation; Edison Betancourth, Vice President and Ms. Mara Itza, Head of Board of Directors
