We need proper media representation

LettersWe need proper media representation
Dear Editor:

I think  it’s about time the media both news and sports form itself  in some kind of organization to have some representation whenever Government officials, sports team or even right now, cases that go international, for e.g., Caribbean Court of Justice or Appeals Court.

We need someone to report back to us to give us full details. In big countries, whenever their head of government travels or sport teams participate in regional and international tournaments, there is always a herd of reporters accompanying them, reporting back on the situation.

Last month our U-17 basketball team went to Puerto Rico and the coach had to be calling in giving updates; no disrespect, but we need a professional media reporter giving good results.

Also, when the Prime Minister went to Guatemala to meet with the president of Mexico concerning BEL, we should have had reports from a reporter. I know we cannot carry a representative from every media house, but it could go in turns.

Each will have to understand it will be one report that has to be shared with all the media houses – no bias reporting to one media and the other does not get the full details, or sending the heart of the info to each media and they spice it up in their own style.

We do need media representation.
