Week 2 results in PLB 2018-2019 Opening Season

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 13, 2018– Three of the four scheduled games were played in Week 2 of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2018-2019 Opening Season over the weekend. The Freedom Fighters FC vs San Pedro Pirates FC game has been postponed to Saturday, September 8, at 8:00 p.m.

On Saturday night at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, defending champion, Belmopan Bandits SC got a 1-nil second half lead through Mexican Hector Martinez (62’), and held on for the 1-nil victory over Verdes FC, who now include former Bandits captain, Elroy Smith, as well as former Bandits midfielder, Honduran Darwin Bermudez in their line-up. It promises to be a treat when these two clash again this season.

On Sunday afternoon, also at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, it was Police United FC defending their turf with a 2-1 win over visiting Altitude (formerly Placencia) Assassins, with a goal each from Shanty Castillo (13’) and Carlton “Fubu” Thomas (31’), while Dion Moguel (41’) scored for the Assassins.  Meanwhile, at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga, home standing Wagiya FC grabbed their first points of the tournament with a 3-1 win over BDF FC, courtesy of a goal apiece from Jonard Castillo (24’), Byron Chavez (78’) and Highking Roberts (85’). The sole tally for BDF was by Michael Myvette (38’).
