GeneralWoman killed in Lord’s Bank

LORDS BANK, Belize District, Wed. July 21, 2021– On Tuesday morning, the partially nude body of a woman was found in Lords Bank in an area known as Spanish Town, in a bushy patch off the Old Well Road. She has been identified as 39-year-old Vilma Elias, a mother of three who recently relocated to the area to live with family members.

Reports are that Elias was ambushed moments after leaving her sister’s house around 9:00 o’clock on Monday night, while she was on the way to her father’s house, where she had been living.

On Tuesday morning her family members went looking for her, after she did not return home the previous night.

She was found in the high bushes in the area, with a large gash over her right eye. Her father, Jose Vindel, with whom Elias had been living since her recent move to the area, told local media that he believes that the poor lighting made her more vulnerable to the fatal attack.

In an off-camera interview he told reporters that he believes that the persons who murdered his daughter were wearing masks to conceal their identity.

When Elias’ body was found, her cell phone was missing and a pair of blue slippers and black underwear were in the area.

Her father, who is a pastor in the village, says the police have promised to conduct a full investigation, but his family is leaving justice in the hands of God.

Vilma Vindel Elias was the mother of three children, ages 15, 8 and 2.

Police are investigating.
