GeneralWould-be rapist attacks housewife and mother, 35, at 2:30 a.m. on Cemetery Road

?The man came from behind, grabbed me around my neck with one arm and began to choke me,? said Tanya.

While he was choking her, he tore her blouse and caused an abrasion on the left side of her chest, she said.

The man then spun her around and punched her hard on the left side of her cheek, and she fell to the ground, she related.

Tanya hit her forehead as she fell, bumping it so hard it caused a swelling.

As the man attempted to drag her into the restroom, she struggled with him and suffered abrasions on her right elbow and both knees. In the process of dragging her, the man completely tore off her blouse, and it was left in his hand, she said.

?That was when I got up and ran,? said Tanya.

Tanya did not stop running until she reached Shell One Stop Gas Station, located at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Cemetery Road, across from the taxi stand. She saw a male friend riding on a bicycle on Central American Boulevard, heading towards the gas station, and she hollered to him for help.

The man offered his assistance by pursuing her assailant, who got on a red beach cruiser bicycle and sped away down Cemetery Road in the direction of Lord Ridge Cemetery. He managed to escape. Tanya, still frightened from her ordeal, was taken to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital by a concerned citizen in his Volkswagen. She was examined by a doctor, who treated her for some of her injuries and ordered that she take an x-ray of her left cheek.

Tanya went to Queen Street Police Station afterwards and gave the police a statement. She described her assailant as being of dark complexion, about 5 feet in height and of medium build. She said the man wore a yellow basketball jersey with the number 7 on it, and a blue jeans short pants.

The full extent of Tanya?s injuries have not been determined yet because the doctor has to see the results of the x-ray.

The police say they are investigating.
