ORANGE WALK TOWN, Thurs. July 21, 2016–Andrew Chavarria Tournament

The quarterfinals of the Andrew Chavarria Tournament were held at the Technical Field on Sunday, July 17. In game 1, Grumpy Strikers dropped Black Wata, 1-0, on a goal by Erwin Guerra. Game 2 saw Crystal with the 1-nil victory over San Fran, courtesy of a goal by Freddy Grijalva. In game 3, it was the same score, as Sinbad clipped Young Stars, 1-0, with a goal from Marlon Garcia. And game 4 was 0-0 in regulation between Heart N Soul and Cholos, before Heart N Soul prevailed 3-1 in the penalty shootout.

The semifinals are scheduled for this Sunday at Technical Field.

Five-A-Side football

The Five-A-Side Football quarterfinals were completed last Thursday, July 14, at People’s Stadium.

In game 1 (Interoffice), it was Centaur, 1-0, over Cuellos, with a goal from Asir Campos. In game 2 (Interoffice), Odett’s bombed BWS, 4-0, with 2 goals from Nelson Estrada and 1 apiece from Maurichio Estrada and Eduardo Melendez. In game 3 (Open), Landy’s dropped San Fran, 3-1, with 2 goals from Enrique Castillo and 1 from Gabriel Perez, while Aaron Allen got the sole tally for San Fran. Game 4 (Interoffice) saw Elite Promos over BSI, 5-4. Shaking the net for Elite Promos were Jonathan Chi (2), Dwayne Magana (2) and Carlos Dias; while for BSI it was Kenny Chi (2), Jesus Chi and Enrique Castillo. In game 5 (Open), Heart N Soul got the 3-1 win over Okay Bye. Mauricio Estrada struck twice and Nelson Estrada added another, while Jonathan Chi scored the only goal for Okay Bye. And in game 6 (Open), it was Aquarius, 2-1, over Open Minions. Robbie Cuello and Luis Cal got 1 apiece for Aquarius, while Filidelfo Quiniones scored for Minions.

Semifinals for both Interoffice and Open are scheduled for this Sunday at People’s Stadium.
