Kulture crumbles; National Over-40 semifinals game 2 this weekend

BELIZE CITY, Tue. Sept. 19, 2017–Things fell apart for Kulture Yabra Veterans on Sunday in Independence, where they fell 4-0 to home standing Mango Creek Veterans. To make matters worse, Kulture defenders Reuben “Postman” Crawford and George “Pele” James both received red cards, and so will not be available for the semifinal game 2 this Sunday at the MCC. Mango Creek got a goal each from Benigno Espinosa (74’), Wilmer Garcia (57’), Jose Leiva (83’) and Manuel Zavala (1’); and, except for a miracle from the struggling Kulture, Mango Creek will wrap up things this Sunday to secure their spot in the National Over-40 finals.

Earlier on Saturday, it was visiting San Pedro Veterans with the 3-1 win over Benque Vets FC at the Amin Hegar Field. Orlando Pinelo (53’ & 87’) struck twice, and Edgar Lima (12’) got the other goal for San Pedro, while Guillermo Castellanos (87’) scored for Benque.

The decisive game 2 of the semifinals take place this weekend. It looks like a foregone conclusion for Mango Creek vs Kulture Yabra, but San Pedro vs Benque is still up for grabs.

Semifinals game 2 schedule:
Saturday, September 23
7:30 p.m. – San Pedro Veterans vs Benque Vets FC – San Pedro Stadium
Sunday, September 24
4:00 p.m. – Kulture Yabra Veterans vs Mango Creek Veterans – MCC Grounds
