PLB Opening
This weekend will be the opening of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Opening Tournament for this year 2019-2020 throughout the country of Belize. This Saturday, July 27, in Dangriga will be the battle for the Carl Ramos Stadium; it’s the Dangriga Derby – Freedom Fighters Valley Pride, who is now here at the Carl Ramos Stadium with players from the Valley, Dangriga, Silk Grass and Punta Gorda, will take on the newly improved Wagiya football club with a couple of newly signed players. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. – Freedom Fighters Valley Pride vs Wagiya Football Club.
(Note: The “gate” for this Saturday evening’s PLB game at the Carl Ramos Stadium will be for Freedom Fighters Valley Pride.)
Mayor’s Cup Finals
Dangriga Town Council presents this Sunday, July 28, inside the Carl Ramos Stadium, the 2019-2020 Mayor’s Cup Championship Finals showdown. It will be a triple-header Sunday. First game at 2:00 p.m. will be a preliminary showcase between our U-17 Belize National Female Selection vs a U.S.A. East Coast female selection. Second game will be the 3rd Place matchup for $1,500.00 – Silk Grass Ballers vs Foreshore Empire. Third game will be the big moment to see who will be crowned this year as Mayor’s Cup Champion. $6thousand for first place; $3thousand for second place. Undefeated Young Generals vs New Site Tire Depot. All cash prizes come along with individual medals and team trophy. First place will also receive the Mayor’s Champion Cup that will be well decorated.
Entertainment will be like never before: Abaesieni Drummers; Sweet Payne Band; Harlem Youth; Chico Ramos & Reckless Flores. Bicycle raffle at halftime for both games. There will be live fireworks display. Entrance fee: Adults – $10:00; Kids – $3:00.
Awards ceremony follows immediately after the championship game.
