Former police officer Elmer Nah was scheduled to reappear in the Magistrate Court in Belmopan on Friday, March 15, for a preliminary inquiry regarding his trial for the triple murder of David, Jon, and Vivian Ramnarace, which he allegedly committed on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2022, in Belmopan.
However, an unexpected twist occurred when the presiding magistrate failed to show up, resulting in the entire court building being closed and deserted.
Unofficial sources suggest that the Belmopan court has been struggling with a magistrate shortage for some time, and has faced challenges in finding replacements.
This situation has led to the latest in a series of postponements for a case that has already held repeated delays, with almost a year passing with minimal progress.
Elmer Nah’s last court date was on February 26, which was also adjourned, and it remains unclear if the hearing has been rescheduled or when he might next appear in court.
Nah is represented by attorney Lyndon Jones.
