Wolfpack’s Alexie Flowers scores 1st run vs Lady Impact

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. May 15, 2025

The undefeated Beacon girls are leading the Belize City Softball Association’s senior women’s tournament after their 2nd win in Week 2 at the Rogers Stadium in Belize City on Saturday evening, May 10.

The Beacon girls opened the season with a 6-2 win over the Belize Bank Bulldogs on Friday, May 2, led by pitcher Jasany Westby, who gave up only 1 hit as she struck out 6 batters and walked 5. The Beacon diamond made only 1 error, forcing the Bulldogs to leave 4 runners on base, and only Janeka “Tootsie” Hilton and Raven Card crossed the plate.

Beacon collected 10 hits off Ashley Lucas, who struck out 5 batters. The Bulldogs made 2 errors, obliging Beacon to leave 7 runners on base. Mardy Nicholson and Sharette Vernon each crossed the plate twice, and Sasha Brown and Sherlene Humphreys each scored a run.

In Game 2 on Sunday, May 4, the Lady Impact had muzzled the Wolfpack girls, 12-5, when pitcher Mertell Bailey gave only 2 hits, as she struck out 3 batters and walked 5. The Impact diamond made 4 errors, allowing Liyah Tzul to cross the plate twice, and Giani Tec, Alexie Flowers and Kumari Latchman each scored a run. Lady Impact collected 6 hits off Alexie Flowers, who struck out 3 batters and walked 8. The Wolfpack diamond made 11 errors, allowing Emma Salquist, Yadira Bennett, and Christine Clarke to each cross the plate twice, while Mertell Bailey, Alberta Bailey, Edania Meighan, Linzy Hall, Kenalee Grinage and Seleaney Goodin scored a run apiece.

In Game 3 last Friday night, May 9, the Bulldogs scored their first victory, 8-1, over the Wolfpack, as they collected 9 hits off Yasmin Weir, who struck out 2 batters and walked 7. The Wolfpack diamond made 7 errors, forcing the Bulldogs to leave 12 runners on base, but Marsha Wills crossed the plate thrice, and Hilton, Agnes Lucas, Barbara Lanza, Kelsey Robinson and Ashley Lucas scored a run each. The Wolfpack collected 4 hits off Ashley Lucas, who struck out 9 batters and walked 1. The Bulldogs made 4 errors, but forced the Wolfpack to leave 8 runners on base, and only Helen Cassasola crossed the plate.

In Game 4 on Saturday, May 10, Jasany Westby pitched a 3-inning no-hitter, as she led the Beacon girls to their 2nd win, 16-0, over the Wolfpack. They collected 9 hits off the combined pitching of Alberta Bailey and Emma Salquist, who struck out 3 batters and walked one. The Wolfpack diamond made 10 errors, allowing Vernon and Westby to each cross the plate thrice, while Shadalee Ho and Rebecca Nicholson each crossed the plate twice. Kesilynn Lizama, Aneek Baptist, Mardy, Indira Spain, and the Coye sisters, Molly and Fanny, each scored a run. Westby walked 4 batters, but the Beacon diamond forced the Wolfpack to leave all 4 runners on base.
