BELIZE CITY, Wed. Sept. 1, 2021– Today, Ambassador of Belize to the Republic of China (Taiwan), H.E. David Kuan-Chou Chien was present at the Bliss Center of Performing Arts for the official launch of five songs that pay tribute to the strong diplomatic ties between Belize and Taiwan.

Those present at the launch enjoyed an immersive cultural experience as songs by Belizean icons Nello Player, TR Shine, Concego, Cocono Bwai, and Boss Lady, which included elements of the punta, soca, pop, and brukdown genres, were played.

Among the songs performed were “International Friends” by TR Shine, “Savor The Moment” by Nello Player, “Belize Home” by Cocono Bwai, and “Work Together” by Concego. The fifth song, “Let Me Take You There,” by Boss Lady, was not performed due to a recent traffic incident the artist was in.

This project was sponsored by Taiwan’s Central America Trade Office (CATO). A release from the Embassy of Taiwan states, “[It] allows talented Belizean musicians to produce energetic and Belize-featured songs that demonstrate the friendship between Taiwan and Belize, and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Independence of Belize.”

There is reportedly to be a second phase of this project, which will allow for the creation of a music video.
