The nights have a thousand eyes, and the day but one, and any jackass should know this. You listen daily to a bunch of twisted tongue asses. They are all saying the same thing about each other. I understand that FIFA, which is the organization that governs the sport of football within and between all countries under its authority, has powers which the nation states where its affiliates administer the sport, allow it to exercise. There have been instances where its affiliates had serious differences with their governments, and FIFA has come down on the side of its affiliates and penalized countries by banning their teams from participating in international tournaments. No government can afford to have it said that they were responsible for depriving its football players of prestige and financial benefits which might come with a stellar performance on the international stage. So. This is where the immense power of Dr. Bertie Chimilio, the president of the Football Federation of Belize, comes from.

There are all kinds of stories out there - one person who spoke to KREM’s “Two Cents Camera” said that his death was “mysterious”. There was nothing mysterious about the man’s death at all. It’s an all-too predictable end for black and Latino males who are unaware of some of the particular health risks that we face.

Oh, woe for being blind. Brother Dr. Bertie Chimilio is passing himself off as an expert in sports in politics. The doctor is an expert in animal science. The doctor is believed to be an expert in the statutes that govern football. He knows zilch about sports in politics. Anyone who follows him is disregarding Jesus’ advice…to not follow the blind. There are numerous instances of politics in sports in the international arena that can be cited. Probably the instances most relevant to us are the ban placed by the Olympic Committee on South Africa’s participation in the 18th Olympic Games in Tokyo (1964), and the boycott of the 1976 Olympic Games by African countries. Ask Mr. Nelson Mandela about the role politics in sports played in freeing that nation from apartheid. Under our FFB’s leadership, he would still be in jail. Abject ignorance is being exhibited by the FFB here. Our people are being led back to slavery. Shame!

You have to admit, the Prime Minister, Mr. Said Musa, is really behaving like Pontius Pilate. He has publicly “condemned” Dr. Bertie Chimilio, president of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), for making a decision to play our home game against St. Kitts and Nevis in the World Cup qualifier elimination tournament, in Guatemala, a country that has claimed the whole of Belize, and is now claiming at least half the country, along with almost all our natural resources.

Unless you are a member or supporter of a political party, you will never know the euphoria which comes with winning a general election or, suffer the devastation which comes with losing one. Perhaps it were better to be like the man of Kipling’s great poem: “If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat these two imposters just the same.” Then, you can deal with victory and defeat with serene equanimity.

I thought that this week I’d be writing glad to know you are doing okay, Mr. Andy P. It wasn’t until I read the Amandala headline story Andy P Serious that I realized that things were a lot more critical than had been reported in other media. I didn’t know Mr. Palacio personally, but, like every other Belizean, I knew him. This is a total shock.

What you think may not be your thoughts. They may have been put in your mind by others. Thought control has become a science used by persons who need to have large numbers of people behave in a certain way. How do you know whether your thoughts are your own or whether you are being controlled? The answer is, who benefits from the action your thoughts impel you to take. If you benefit, whether or not others gain as well, then your thoughts may be your own. If you do not, or even lose thereby, your thoughts have been put there by those who wish to enjoy the fruits of your labours.
