All we want for Christmas in Hopkins is water

LettersAll we want for Christmas in Hopkins is water

Dear Editor,

My tourists have left my resort; they are fleeing Hopkins. I am turning away guests due to the stress, and lack of water. Without water we cannot facilitate our families or our guests properly.

Tourism is our number one income here in Belize. This is as bad and as long as rebuilding the Kendall Bridge.

The man in charge of our water situation, Mr. Lopez, promised next week, and told us to be patient and understanding.

That is not acceptable! I cannot even imagine that – another week of no water! He said it would be fixed over the weekend, and that was last month. How about being compensated for our loss of income, at least a free month from paying the water bill?

Another week with no water in Hopkins, Belize’s Number One tourist spot. After 30 days, we are still without water. This is just unacceptable!!

This is supposed to be a great country; it would be a national emergency in any other country. We have engineers, we have technology, we have tools, we have people, we have money; why are we not using them?

We, the people, pay for this service every month, so, with the money we pay, why can’t they make this situation right yesterday, instead of unbearable next week?

A Thirsty for Water Citizen,
