There was a shooting on Gladden Street tonight. Collett Morter, Jr., 19, was fatally shot. Morter was watching TV with some friends when someone called his name and he went outside to see who it was, that was when the gunman opened fire on him. He died on the spot.
AMANDALA, a biweekly newspaper published on Tuesdays and Fridays, was founded as an organ of the United Black Association for Development (UBAD), which emerged on August 13, 1969. Even after UBAD was divided and later dissolved in 1974, AMANDALA remained.
