BELIZE CITY, Tues. Mar. 25, 2025

The defending champions, Jewel Fury enjoyed their first win in Week 2 of the 2025 Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) football tournament, with a 4-2 blast of Napoles FC at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium on Sunday afternoon, March 23.

Khalydia Velasquez’s hat trick (27’, 45+1’ & 83’) keyed the 4-2 victory, with Shayla’lee Flowers (63’) adding the 3rd goal, after Carlene Tillett (15’) and speed queen Jayda Brown (21’) had given Napoles FC a 2-0 lead.

Khalydia (71’) had also scored a goal for the Jewels in their 1-1 draw with the Sagitun Girlz in the opening match of the tournament the week before. Kenya Perez (88’) salvaged the Sagitun Girlz’ 1-1 draw.

Jolene Aranda’s beaver hat trick (21’, 42’, 66’, 68’ & 76’) led the Sagitun Girlz’ 10-1 march over the Cayo Dreamers at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium last Saturday night, March 22. Jurshia Zuniga (5’ & 88’) and Sabina Eiley (23’ & 44’) each added a brace, and Kenya Perez (40’) delivered the 4th goal. Only Zuleyka Miller (69’) scored a consolation goal for the Dreamers.

Napoles had kicked off the season with a 2-1 win over the Cayo Dreamers the week before, with goals by Jerlin Salazar (32’) and Jayda Brown (49’), while Julie Ponce (52’) scored a consolation goal for the Dreamers.
