Ortis was stabbed in his upper right thigh, and the knife damaged a main artery. He reportedly bled to death. The incident was reported in the #1942 issue of the Sunday edition of Amandala, dated March 20, 2005, in an article titled Sebastian Ortis, 43, stabbed and left to bleed to death. The stabbing allegedly occurred as a result of a heated argument at Ortis? residence, located at #23 Police Street Extension, around 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Ortis? sister, Carolyn Noralez, 24, to whose house he went for assistance, said that she heard him shouting for her to call the police, and that was the last statement he said. When the ambulance arrived, Ortis was already dead, she said. According to a post-mortem conducted, Friday, March 18, by a certified medical officer, Ortis died as a result of hypovolemic shock due to external bleeding as a result of a stab wound to the upper right thigh, which damaged one of the main arteries. Funeral service is being held today at 4:00 p.m. at the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Punta Gorda Town. According to police they have not recovered the knife that was used to inflict the fatal wound. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers presided the court, while Edwin Borrallos prosecuted. Bennett is scheduled to reappear in court Monday, May 16. A similar incident was reported in the #1919 issue of the Sunday edition of the Amandala, dated December 19, 2004, in an article titled Fugitive Miriam Lopez wanted for Ladyville love murder! Police reports were that Miriam Filomina Lopez, a Honduran, had allegedly stabbed her ex-common-law husband, Luis Foreman, 39, with a ten-inch blade knife in the left thigh around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, during an altercation. The incident occurred at Foreman?s residence, located in the Lords Bank area. Lopez, Foreman?s ex-girlfriend, and Foreman?s girlfriend, Donna Jones, 27, were having an altercation when Foreman intervened. Police are still seeking Lopez, who is wanted in connection with this murder.
