BELIZE CITY, Wed. Nov. 14, 2018– After the prosecution had submitted all of the evidence the Crown intends to rely on at the trial, Joshua Gillett, 21, a resident of Conch Shell Bay charged with attempted murder, was committed today by Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford to stand trial in the April 2019 session of the Supreme Court that will commence on April 2.

Gillett is also charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. The charges are for the shooting of James Swazo, 45, a security guard of Ground Dove Street in the Jane Usher Boulevard area, which occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017.

According to reports, Swazo was called out of his home by his assailant, who shot him in the stomach and his left thigh. The police said that they believe that the shooting was gang-related.
