Jahiem Joseph, 20, a resident of Ladyville, Belize District, has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of Norman Castillo, 45, a laborer of Hopkins Village, Stann Creek, during an altercation in Castillo’s yard on Friday, September 30.
Castillo and his wife had been socializing together along with relatives in their yard on the south side of Hopkins Village just after 10:00 p.m. when a group of men passed the yard, and for an unknown reason, an argument arose between Castillo and the men, which led to a physical altercation, during which Castillo was fatally stabbed twice in the left side of the chest.
He was later taken to the Southern Regional Hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.
On Friday, October 14, police formally arrested and charged Joseph with the crime of murder.
