ORANGE WALK TOWN, Wed. Feb. 4, 2015–The semifinals date had finally arrived, with the top seeded teams from the Interoffice and Open Divisions looking to qualify to the finals. Congratulations to all teams who made it so far, as they surely provided the fans an evening full of 5-A-Side football excitement on Tuesday, February 3, at the People’s Stadium. The officiating team was Freddie Gonzalez and Percival Gideon.

1st Game (Interoffice) – Odette’s 4:2 Cuello’s. The newcomers Odette’s Home Center came out with a game plan and quickly got on the score board, as Nelson Estrada (1) found the back of the net. The undefeated Cuello’s team quickly responded with a goal by Robbie Cuello (1). However, Mauricio Estrada (3) then registered his hat trick for the game, shocking the Cuello’s Team. A late goal by Cuello’s Leo Corado (1) was not enough, and it was the first upset of the night, as the #1 seeded team will have to witness the finals from the bleachers.

2nd Game (Interoffice) – Centaur 2:2 BSI. Two good teams battling for a spot in the Finals. The first half ended in a 0-0 score, as both teams had great scoring opportunities, just to be denied by the goal posts on both ends. Omar Mollinero (1) gave Centaur the lead early in the second half, only to be erased by BSI’s Enrique Castillo (1) and Orlando Trejo (1) goals. Centaur kept finding opportunities and it finally paid with George Rodriguez’s (1) late goal in the second half, sending the game into a penalty shootout. BSI failed to convert on their first two penalty shots, as Centaur took full advantage and converted twice, advancing into the Finals.

3rd Game (Open) – Landy’s 3:1 Stadium Strikers. It was the Open Division’s turn to entertain the fans, and they sure did not disappoint. Great defense and ball control by both teams, as Landy’s Alberto Cassanova (1) got a wicked shot past Stadium Strikers’ goalkeeper Omar Mendez, to take the lead. Stadium Strikers’ Zacharias Gonzalez (1) responded with a laser shot from mid court and at intermission it was anybody’s game. Landy’s surely did not want to miss the finals this season, as they scored twice in the second half, with goals coming from Enrique Castillo (1) and Durian Cadle (1). Landy’s advancing to the Finals.

4th Game (Open) – Rig Parts 3:1 Aquarius. Rig Parts, wanting to make the finals for consecutive seasons, entered the game hyped and determined to win. Goals by Rig Parts’ Hugo Estrada (1) and Mauricio Estrada (2) gave the Rig Parts team a 3-0 lead. Aquarius tried to find a rhythm, but to no avail. A consolation goal late in the second half by Zamir Duran (1) was too little too late, as Rig Parts deservingly advanced into the Finals Round.

The Finals are scheduled for Thursday, February 5, at People’s Stadium, starting at 8:00 p.m.

1st Game (Open, for 3rd & 4th) – Stadium Strikers vs Aquarius
2nd Game (Interoffice, for 3rd & 4th) – Cuello’s vs BSI
3rd Game (Interoffice, for 1st & 2nd) – Centaur vs Odette’s
