SportsPedal by Pedal report - Chetumal Race of Sunday, July 7

BELIZE CITY, Tues. July 9, 2019– While many Belizeans traveled to Chetumal this past weekend for the purpose of shopping, a few Belizean cyclists made the sojourn to participate in a Bike Race on the Seaside Circuit.

Despite pouring rain, the race took off just after 8:00 a.m. This made for a very slippery surface, and many cyclists paid the price, either by crashing, or nearly crashing, and abandoning.

In the Elite Race, Belizeans dominated the top 3 Podium positions in the names of Erwin Middleton of Digicell, Gian Lino of Westrac, and an unattached Belizean rider from Corozal, Reggie Reno.

Meanwhile, in the Masters Race, Belizean/Mexican Omar Gomez, riding for Santino’s, took 1st, with Mexican Guillermo “Yuya” Contreras taking 2nd, and Santino the Chief rounding out the top 3.
