BELIZE CITY, Wed. July 17, 2019– The Belize Rural North Football Tournament for the Edmond “Clear the Land” Castro Cup 2019 continued on Sunday, July 14, with Week 9 games at the Lucky Strike football field, instead of in Burrell Boom as planned, due to some field booking complications. Four games were played, three Seniors and one U-17 game.

In game 1, (Seniors) Lucky Strike Titans dropped Burrell Boomers, 3-0, on two goals by Keenan Gillett (52’ & 74’) and the other by Byron “Barrow” Usher (83’).

In game 2, (U-17) Survival Youths bombed Sandhill Youths, 6-2, on two goals each by Shamar Gillett (19’ & 31’) and Cion Augustine (51’ & 58’), and one apiece by Sanjay Pitts, Jr. (62’) and Akeem Thomas (65’); while for Sandhill, female player Shevawn Vaccaro (12’) had given her team the early lead with the first goal of the game, and their other goal was by Leonardo Higinio (48’).

Game 3 (Seniors) saw Corozalito Untouchables beat Fabers Road United, 2-0, on a goal apiece by Michael Rivas (36’) and Michael Palacio (79’).

And in game 4, (Seniors) Survival FC dropped Maskall United, 4-2, on two goals each by Brandon Myers (22’ & 40’) and Denmark Gill (66’ & 76’); while the goals for Maskall were by Kevin Young (15’) and Damion Castro (57’).
Final week of regular season

This Sunday, July 21, is Week 10, the final week of regular season play; after which, the four teams with the most points move on to the semifinal round.

The standings as of Sunday, July 14, show 3 teams (*) already qualified to the semifinal round:  Survival FC* – 15 pts; Corozalito Untouchables* – 12 pts; Lucky Strike Titans* – 12 pts; Burrell Boomers – 9 pts; Fabers Road United – 8 pts; and Maskall United – 8 pts.

Week 10 schedule in Burrell Boom Village:
Sunday, July 21, Burrell Boom
11:30 a.m. – (U-17) Maskall Youths vs Kings College Strikers
1:00 p.m. – (Seniors) Maskall United vs Burrell Boomers
3:00 p.m. – (Seniors) Lucky Strike Titans vs Corozalito Untouchables
Nuff:  food, drinks & music from 11:00 a.m., “Clear the Land” style!
Entrance Fee:  Adults – $3.00; Kids – FREE!!
