The elder brother escaped through the main door of the San Pedro Police Station after he was taken to use the bathroom and left unattended. But at about 7:30 p.m. that same day, police found him hiding inside an abandoned house in the San Pedrito area, located on the southern part of the island.
Both brothers were later transferred off the island and remanded to the Hattieville Prison. They are to return to court on April 24.
According to police, on Saturday, March 25, the young girl reported to them, in the presence of a social worker, that her mother had beaten her badly when she found out that she had had sex with her two brothers.
Police observed that the girl had several abrasions on her body, and her hair was also ?cut-up.?
The child said that her mother had beaten her with a machete, with which she claimed her mother later hacked off chunks of her hair.
However, the mother has denied her daughter?s allegations of abuse.
The girl also made a formal report that she had had sex once with each of her brothers sometime in 2004. A medical examination was conducted, but the findings were not disclosed.
A reliable source to the newspaper said that the mother was suspicious about her 16-year-old daughter and confronted her. This was when the girl told her mother that her two brothers had had sex with her. The source further said that when the mother confronted her two sons, they confessed.
Just last Tuesday, it was reported that a 15-year-old had had sex with his 10-year-old sister in Dangriga. The incident was reported after the 10-year-old child?s mother noticed a ?vamp? on her neck, and the child told her that it was her brother who had put it there. They had been having sex for some time, alleged the child.
