Cocom allegedly rubbed his hand

Merdardo Cocom, 53, a laborer of Belize City, was charged with aggravated assault of an indecent nature when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith today.

Although the details of the assault remain sketchy, what we do know is that Cocom allegedly used his right hand to rub against a 15-year-old female student’s breast.

Cocom pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail of $1,000 and one surety of the same amount, but he has to reside at a Partridge Street Extension address he provided to the court, until the matter is heard in its entirety. He must also stay away from the minor and report to the Queen Street Police Station every Monday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Up to midday, Cocom had not been able to secure his bail and must return to court on December 2, 2013.
