BELIZE CITY, Wed. May 29, 2019– Sandhill Village was the venue for Week 6 games on Sunday, May 26, in the Belize Rural North Football Tournament for the Edmond “Clear the Land” Castro Cup 2019.

In game 1, (U-17) Kings College Strikers drew with Sandhill Youths, 3-3. Netting a goal each for Kings College were Jordi Reyes (4’), Jordhy Riva (54’) and Carlos Gutierrez (59’); while Sandhill goals were by Deandre Dawson (62’ & 66’) and Leonardo Higinio (17’).

Game 2, (Seniors) saw Corozalito Untouchables drop Sports Education FC, 9-0, on 3 goals by Michael Rivas (28’, 84’ & 88’), Michael Palacio (25’ & 66’), Leslie Samuel (49’ & 74’), Luis Cal (77’) and Jason Gilharry (81’).

In game 3, (Seniors ) Maskall United drew with Fabers Road United, 4-4, on 2 goals by Shawn Young (60’ & 64’) and 1 each by Kevin Young (17’) and Calvin Young (78’); while for Fabers Road, Gilroy “Bredda” Thurton scored three (26’, 54’ & 72’) before Shamar Thompson got the equalizer at the 85th minute.

And in game 4, (Seniors) Burrell Boomers shocked Lucky Strike FC, 2-0, on a goal each by Ever Simion (29’) and Hubert Baptist (72’).

The tournament continues this Sunday in Sandhill Village with two U-17 games and some “unfinished business” from a Week 4 Seniors game.

Sunday, June 2, Sandhill
1:00 p.m. – (U-17) Survival Youths vs KC Strikers
2:30 p.m. – (U-17) Maskall Youths vs Sandhill Youths
4:00 p.m. – (Seniors Week 4 continuation) Fabers Road United vs Lucky Strike Titans

This game will continue from the 57th minute with Lucky Strike Titans up, 1-0, on a Delroy Andrews 39th minute goal.

Nuff food, drinks & music from 1:00 p.m. “Clear the Land” style!!

Entrance fee:  Adults – $3.00; Kids – FREE!!

The top 6 clubs with the most points have already qualified to the next round. They are: from Group A – Survival FC, Corozalito Untouchables, and Burrell Boomers; and from Group B – Maskall United, Fabers Road United and Lucky Strike Titans.

Each club will play 3 out-of-group games, after which the top 4 clubs with the most points will move on to the semifinals. (See standings above)
