Although this pandemic is hitting us hard, we already know more or less how to live with it. The main source of transmission is person to person; mask usage will stop this, and keeping our hands sanitized will take care of the other forms.

It is time we started taking care of business, and controlled travelling can begin slowly across the land borders.

Before this pandemic, Chetumal was a big source of provisions for many Belizeans. Some of us need to go check our doctors, some to see our business suppliers, and so on and so forth.

Chetumal seems to have controlled the problem better than we have. In the beginning, they were the problem; now the coin has flipped, and we are the problem.

In my opinion, we can open our land border cautiously, similar to the opening of the PGIA for international flights. No big crowds going over; only those crossing the border for reasonable medical reasons and bona fide business persons will be allowed to pass, of course observing all protocols of safety — only private vehicles with social distancing and mask usage in the vehicle.

Time to start getting carefully back to as normal as much as is possible, and with the rapid test kits available now, easier yet.
