BELIZE CITY, Fri. Sept. 15, 2023
Students from 31 schools in the Belize District assembled at the Civic Centre in Belize City on Friday, September 15, for the annual Children’s Rally, which is held as a part of the September celebrations.
The Mistress and Master of Ceremony were Renata Samuels and Brandon Usher, and during the event, the children sang well-known patriotic songs as they waved their flags.
Each school performed patriotic pieces, and local artist, Missy B also entertained the children at the event.
Minister of Education, Hon. Francis Fonseca was in attendance, and he described the rally to Amandala as the “most beautiful thing.”
“We get to experience it; we feel the energy and passion and love from these young people. It’s fantastic. It’s all about love for Belize. It’s all about our young people understanding and appreciating that they are proud Belizeans, and it gives us an opportunity to celebrate them,” he said.
“The District Center thought it would be very nice to have cupcakes and light a candle and celebrate and sing Happy Birthday. We counted down 42 years for Belize. So, I think that was a wonderful addition to the program this morning,” Hon. Fonseca further noted.
Making a special appearance to climax the event was 2023-2024 Queen of the Bay, Kendall Morgan who thrilled the already excited children and guests in attendance with her performance of the traditional Queen of the Bay curtsy to their resounding applause.
