According to police, when they arrived at the scene, they saw the body of a man hanging from a branch. He was fully clad and had a green wire around his neck, with which he was suspended from the branch. He was located 200 yards off the main road, said police.

The man was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival and identified as Wu Baohua of Guandong, China.

Police said that next to the body they found a bag containing a few pieces of clothing and a Chinese passport belonging to the deceased, which helped them to identify the body.

Wu had been living in Belize for at least 3 years.

His is the third tragedy for the Chinese community this month. Chinese businessman, Li Shen Li, 34, was fatally shot on Wednesday, March 15, inside his business, Sammy?s Store, in the presence of his wife and two young children, in San Joaquin Village, Corozal Town.

Chinese businessman, Xue Ming Luo, 32, was shot 10 days later on Saturday, March 25. Like Li Shen Li, he was also holding his child in his arms, a 4-month-old baby girl, his only child, when he was senselessly shot in his right eye by a thief. Xue reportedly lies brain dead in a Belize City hospital.
