Kremandala custodian and facilitator, Denton Garbutt, 52, died this morning of a heart attack at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Denton had been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure a few years ago.
On Tuesday morning about 3 a.m., he began to ail, and his sister, Marjorie “Mammy” Garbutt, decided to take him to the hospital. There were no taxis available, and Denton and his sister had to walk from their home on the western part of Vernon Street to the Central American Boulevard, a distance of several blocks.
Denton is predeceased by his parents – Alpheus Budd and Katherine Garbutt; brothers – Calbert Budd and Wellington Reid.
He is survived by four sisters – Mavis Allen, Marjorie Garbutt, Zoila Garbutt and Carol Cabral; four brothers – William Loriano, Glinsford Bryant, Arthur Bryant and Windell Garbutt; aunts – Ethel Garbutt and Ethel Hall; uncles – William, Keith and Uril Leslie, all of the United States; many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and the Kremandala family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Martin De Porres Church. The body will be received at 2:00 p.m.
