The Social Security Board of Belize (SSB) celebrated its 44th anniversary of existence in Belize on Friday, May 30.

In celebration of over four decades of service, the SSB held an open day exhibit in the various branches countrywide under the theme, “Digital Transformation – Connect, Create, Convenience,” which ties with their digital portal.

“We have a Triple-C philosophy, where you connect with SSB, you create your account, and you get the convenience of creating that account, because then you have access to your portal account, and there is this dashboard of services you get,” said Communications and Public Relations Manager for SSB, Vanessa Vellos.

“… you can check your contribution history- and that is very important because you need to know what your contribution figures are so that you can access benefits – and of course, it plays a role when you want to find out if you are eligible for a pension, or not many years down the road. Also, the next service that you get with your portal account is that you can file a sickness benefit claim. That process was manual before, but now it is online, so you can go into the portal and you can file your sickness benefit claim there,” she added.

Vellos highlighted that with the online feature, customers can make appointments to renew their Social Security cards, rather than going into a branch and waiting in lines, creating convenience.

Social Security has 10 branches countrywide, including its corporate branch in Belmopan.
