The St. Ignatius RC School girls and the Wesley Upper boys will represent the Belize District at the national primary schools football championships organized by the National Sports Council and hosted by the Football Federation of Belize at the FFB and Isidoro Beaton Stadiums in Belmopan on Friday, December 6.
They qualified by winning the Belize District championships at the Berger Field in Belize City last Friday, November 29.
In Game 1, the Belize City champions, St. Ignatius’ girls triumphed, 3-1, over the island champions, the Holy Cross Anglican girls, with a brace from Dejaney Vernon (21’ & 28’), after Camrin Henry (5’) had opened the scoreboard. Holy Cross’ Octany Noralez (19’) scored a consolation goal for the visitors.

In Game 2, the Belize Rural champions, Our Lady of the Way RC school girls from Ladyville won, 2-1, over the Belize City sub-champions, the St. Luke Methodist girls, with a brace from Sheren Humes (12’ & 39’) in overtime. Only Shaquia Reynolds (14’) scored for St. Luke’s.

In Game 3, the Belize City champions, the Wesley Upper boys recovered from a deficit to prevail, 3-2, over the island champions, San Pedro RC School boys, with goals by Keifer Thurton (29’), Kyrone Martinez (30’), and Lionel Soberanis (32’), after San Pedro had equalized 2-2 with goals by Nigel Hulse (11’) and Dyland Toledano (31’).

In Game 4, the Belize Rural champions, Our Lady of the Way RC school boys dominated the Belize City sub-champions, Ebenezer Methodist boys, 2-0, with goals by Kent Noralez and Zayden Brown (40’).
In Game 5, the female championship final, the St. Ignatius girls prevailed, 3-2, over the Ladyville girls, with a brace from Camrin Henry (6’ & 7’) to which Sheren Humes responded with a brace (32’ & 35’) for Ladyville. Nashus’ Dejaney Vernon (43’) scored the winning goal in overtime.
In Game 6, the Wesley boys won the championship, 1-0, over the Ladyville boys when Nelton Swazo (25’) scored the winning goal.
