Belizean athletes compete at Central American Senior Championships in Honduras

Returning to Belize today was a delegation of the Belize Athletics Association (BAA) who represented Belize at the XXV Central American Senior Championships hosted in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, over the weekend from Friday June 20 – Sunday, June 22.

A total of 14 persons, 10 athletes and 4 officials, reportedly attended the meet, which was also a qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games to be hosted in Veracruz, Mexico in November of this year. (12 athletes were scheduled to travel, but 2 failed to show up.)

The team returned with 10 medals – 1 Gold, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze.

In the Female category, Katy Sealy won Gold in the Hepathlon , totaling 4,537 points; Alexia Neal earned Silver in both 100m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles (1:05:29); Gloria Serano got Bronze in Shotput; and Ajahney Carr received Bronze in the 400m.

For the males, Brandon Jones garnered 3 Silver medals for the 200m, Long Jump (7.19m) and Triple Jump; Kenneth Medwood also got Silver in 400m Hurdles (51:16); and the 4x100m Relay team of Mark Anderson, Brandon Jones, Jervis Myvett and Kenneth Brackett settled for the Bronze.
