DANGRIGA, Wed. Jan.24, 2018– The Dangriga Zone secondary school football tournament got started on Monday, January 22, at the Carl Ramos Stadium. This tournament will be a double-elimination round.
In the female results on Monday, Delille Academy won over Ecumenical, 1 goal to nil, the goal coming at the 8th minute of first half from Lesly Ann Lucas, with an assist from Edith Engleton. Meanwhile, in the male, both Ecumenical High and Delille Academy ended up in a 2 to 2 tie. The goal scorers for Delille Academy were Tyler Peters and Yibemeh Lewis; while Ecumenical High goals were by Myreek Francis and Zion Ramos. Hillary Coleman was red carded for Ecumenical. Delille Academy was the host school on Monday.
The tournament continued today, Wednesday, with Ecumenical as the host school. In the female results, Delille Academy won once again over Ecumenical, 1 goal to nil, on a goal by Edith Engleton in the 17th minute of second half. Delille Academy females lead with 6 points. The school with the most points will advance to the district finals.
The female games continue on Monday. There will be no female game on Friday; only one male game. Delille Academy females only need a draw on Monday to advance to the district finals.
In the results from the male game today, which is a double elimination, Ecumenical won over ANRI, 3 goals to nil, with 2 goals from Myreek Francis and 1 from Deltroy Gamboa.
The tournament continues this Friday with one male game only at 3:00 p.m. ANRI will be the host school. It will be Delille Academy vs ANRI.
The district finals for the South Zone will be in Punta Gorda, hosted by Julian Cho Technical on February 10.
