FFB National Over-40 update

SportsFFB National Over-40 update

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. July 12, 2018– Catching up on some scores from the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) National Over-40 tournament, we note that some late information after we went to press on Tuesday indicated that the game in Dangriga at the Carl Ramos Stadium on Sunday was indeed played after all. We had reported that no-show referees had led to cancellation of games at the MCC (San Pedro Veterans vs Kulture Yabra Veterans) and also at the Carl Ramos Stadium (Dangriga New Site Erei vs Benque Veterans); but the game at Carl Ramos was played, with the result a 3-3 draw between New Site Erei and Benque Veterans. Other games on Sunday saw Esperanza Warriors and San Ignacio Santels ending in a 2-2 draw at Esperanza Field; and there was another draw, this one 1-1 between Mango Creek Veterans and Belmopan Veterans in Independence.

The day before, on Saturday, July 7, Lake Medina’s H.J. had blanked BDF Veterans, 3-0, in the opener at the MCC; and it was also 3-0 in the MCC nightcap, as Belize City Plaza dropped Belmopan Bandits.

The top two teams from each group will go on to the semifinal playoffs, but there remain a few back matches which will have an impact on the standings.  (See below.)
