BELMOPAN, Thurs. July 21, 2016–The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) is hosting nationwide U-17 football tournaments this week in anticipation of Belize’s participation in the U-17 World Cup Qualifiers to be hosted in Panama, November 2016.
These tournaments, which are equivalent to tryouts, are being led by respective District Football Associations across the country, in an effort to expand the opportunities to all U-17 males to become members of Belize’s U-17 National Team.
Following the culmination of the tournaments across the country a Grand National U-17 inter-district tournament will consequently be held in Belmopan from Friday, August 5, to Sunday, August 7, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan. A National U-17 selection will be formed thereafter to represent Belize at the U-17 World Cup Qualifiers.
The FFB thanks the coordinators for assisting in making these tournaments a reality, and encourages all Under 17 youths (born in 2000 or 2001) to contact your local District Associations in the hopes of becoming a member of the U-17 National Team.
For more information, contact your nearest District Football Association or call the Football Federation of Belize at 822-3410.
